HOUSTON, TX- Houston is a living laboratory of culture and vitality. - Rotary E-Club of Houston: The Rotary motto is "service above self," and this is exemplified, in part, through Houston's Rotary E-Club modus operandi, which boasts a flexible meeting format that includes an online, weekly newsletter, online Board of Directors meetings, video conferences and message boards, ideal for members who keep a busy schedule, travel frequently or have limited mobility.
- The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: The MFAH is a dynamic, cultural experience that includes two gallery buildings, a sculpture garden, an art school and two museums, and the fine arts are part of the an educational experience that fosters the creative talents of individuals within the realm of expressive media. There is something for everyone at the MFAH, and the museum holds firm to its belief that "art is truly meaningful only when it is shared."
- Houston Northwest Chamber: A Chamber of Commerce is committed to the creation and promotion of economic vitality of the community in which it operates, committing itself to the advocacy of education and networking. Serving the greater northwest area of Harris County since 1974, the Houston Northwest Chamber has grown to more than 750 members while serving an area of approximately 500,000 residents.
- Houston Arts Alliance: The Houston Arts Alliance works to promote Houston as a premier destination of arts and culture through grants, commissioning and conserving public art, celebrating the region's diverse cultural tradition through programming and documentation and funding cultural tourism initiatives.
- Houston Fire Department: The Texas A&M Forest service has said that local fire departments are the first line of defense against wildfires, and more than 85 percent of fire departments are volunteer. The HFD is the fourth-largest fire department in the U.S. and is responsible for preserving life and property to a population of more than 2 million in an area totaling 617 square miles.
- City of Houston Housing and Community Development: Houston's Department of Housing and Community Development provides the leadership and financing to make affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization happen in Houston, annually administering more than $100 million in federal, state and local programs. The department invests in neighborhood parks, multifamily communities and economic development, working to provide first-time homebuyer assistance and funds that serve the homeless, elderly and disabled.
- Houston Public Library: Libraries are the cornerstone of learning and a bedrock of information within any municipality, often used as venues for community projects and events as well as a hub for students, families and local figures to gather, network and create.
- Houston Zoo: Zoos are sometimes the last and best hope for endangered animals, while simultaneously serving as an educational resource for visitors on the animals that live within the zoo community. The Houston Zoo prides itself as a fun, unique and inspirational experience that fosters appreciation, knowledge and care for the natural world.
- Houston Museum of Natural Science: Houston's Museum of Natural Science invites the public to explore the far reaches out outer space, roam with the dinosaurs, wander through Africa's Serengeti and marvel at the world's rarest minerals. Discovery is the name of the game here, and it's one that everyone can play.
- Houston Arboretum and Nature Center: The Arboretum and Nature Center is a 155-acre nature sanctuary with five miles worth of walking trails that wind through forest, meadow and wetland habitats. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, and the center offers children's classes, camp programs and events for adults.
