Our Keynote Speaker, William Kamkwamba , is a Malawian inventor, engineer and author. He gained renown in his country in 2001 when he built a wind turbine to power a water pump in his village from bicycle parts. Since this invention as a young boy, he obtained a scholarship and graduted from Dartmouth College in 2014. George is a retired CPA and Certified Financial Planner, and serves as a Rotary Community Volunteer. He has had a distinguished Rotary career having served in many capacities, including District Governor for District 5890 from 2003-04, Delegate to the Rotary International Council on Legislation, 2021-22 District 5890 The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Endowment Fund Co-Chair, 2021-22 Endowment Legacy Club Committee Member, Awardee of The Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award, and member of The Arch Klumph Society.

18 Feb 2025 Hawani Manaye Adugna Peace Building Feb 18, 2025 Hawani Manaye Adugna who holds a Master’s degree in Global Affairs from Rice University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Baylor University will be speaking via zoom on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at noon. She has extensive experience in human rights advocacy, international conflict resolution, and crisis management. Through her work with various government and nonprofit organizations, Hawani has contributed to policy development and humanitarian initiatives aimed at peacebuilding and conflict prevention. She has also collaborated with Rotary International in Rennes, France, where she engaged with cross-cultural initiatives to promote dialogue and understanding. Presentation Overview The presentation will focus on peacebuilding and its role in addressing humanitarian crises and resolving conflicts. I will share insights from my human rights work and international experiences, emphasizing practical strategies that individuals and governments can adopt to foster peace. I plan to highlight both community-level and global initiatives, offering actionable steps that anyone—regardless of their professional background—can take to make a meaningful difference.

18 Mar 2025 Jenna MacEwen - Water4Life Guatemala Clean Water Projects - Focus on Guatemala Mar 18, 2025 Jenna MacEwen is the co-founder and executive director of Water4Life Guatemala. She earned her Business Management degree from Westfield State University in Massachusetts before traveling through developing countries, where she witnessed the devastating lack of access to basic resources. After personally battling a severe waterborne parasite that led to a four-year gut healing journey, Jenna became dedicated to ensuring families have access to safe water—the foundation for breaking cycles of systemic poverty. Over the past six years, she has led Water4Life Guatemala in providing clean water access and education to more than 30,000 people, implementing greywater systems, and empowering Indigenous female leaders to advocate for health and environmental sustainability.
