Message from Gary Gillen, Rotary Governor, District 5890:

We have listened to your comments and have redesigned District Conference with your concerns in mind! The Circle of Governors and the District Conference Committee are proud to offer you the New District Conference on July 4th!  Beginning at 10 am at Veterans Memorial Park in College Station, Texas, we will dedicate the Outdoor Music Park, we will honor Vietnam era veterans and tour the monuments at the park. Then we will have the first-ever Governor's Awards Picnic! At this picnic you will enjoy a boxed lunch, see the awards presentations, witness the District raffle drawings, have a chance to win door prizes, but most important, let's celebrate the many successes we have achieved in this crazy Rotary year.

After that picnic you can travel home or join us in Bryan and College Station for self guided events such as fireworks, Safari Aggieland, Mesina Hof winery, and much more.
Registration including Lunch is an affordable $25 per person. Register for District Conference here:  https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50025/Event/rotary-connects-the-world-music-park

If you would like to stay overnight, our host hotels, the George and Cavalry Court offer great amenities at valuable rates.  The George is dark wood, leather and classy elegance. Cavalry Court is World Ward II chic.  Both hotels are offering us preferred rates of $119 for a Classic King and $129 for a Classic Double.
Register for hotels here:

The hotels offer:
As far as family-friendly things to do here at our hotels specifically:
  • Lawn Games at Cavalry Court – washers, corn hole, ping pong and large Jenga.
  • Bikes at Cavalry Court and The George – guests can take a ride around Century Square on our custom bikes. We have enough for families to ride together also.
  • Pools at Cavalry Court and The George – kid friendly pools at either property with great outdoor pool spaces for guests to enjoy with their kids and loved ones.
  • Courtyard Areas at Cavalry Court – TONS of outdoor space at Cavalry Court for kids to run off some energy without having to go and be around a ton of people and still be within the properties gates.
  • Fire Pits at Cavalry Court – 2 large fire pits at Cavalry Court where families can hang out and relax. We also can provide complimentary smores kits for parents to enjoy with their kids.
  • Shuffle Board at The George – Another fun game that families can play together and kids always love!
Family friendly things to do in Century Square:
  • Century Square Green – They always have lawn games set up on the green in Century Square that kids and families can go enjoy. On special weekends they also sometimes have live music, or other fun things for people visiting to do.
  • Star Cinema Grill – Dine-in movie theater right across from both hotels. VERY family-friendly and you can do dinner and a movie all in one.
  • Sub-Zero – A really cool nitrogen ice cream bar. Kids will love going and having their own ice cream made and you get to watch them do it!
  • In general, there is plenty of space to walk around Century Square and tons of shops and places to stop in and eat.
Our properties, and Century Square as a whole, are very family-friendly and try to provide lots of different options for those wanting to bring kids and spouses to the area!

From Golf Friday at 1pm to First Friday in Downtown Bryan that evening, District Conference Saturday morning, self-directed activities Saturday evening to fireworks Saturday night, this will be a fun weekend. Whether you join us for the day or the weekend, let's celebrate the end of a great, crazy and meaningful year! I hope to see you there!
