A hybrid club social is planned for March 1 6th at 6:00 pm to welcome our two guests who are part of a District Friend ship Exchange. \; They are from Lithuania and staying with PDG Ed and Robin Charlesworth. \; Bring a dish to share with others as a "\;P ot Luck"\; and beverages will be provided. \; We will do a banner exchange as is traditional between Rotary members from international clubs . \; The online camera will become active at 7:15 pm since they will b e unable to partake of the food. \; We will have a short program to in troduce our guests and share about the Friendship Exchange. \; Their f light to Houston arrives on Saturday and each day is planned with activiti es. \; This will be our only opportunity for more members of our club to meet our guests as we only have them for four days. \; Next they wi ll move to be hosted by Rotarians in College Station/Bryan area.

Fellow Rotarians\, I once heard someone speak of his grandmother’s creative use of scraps o f cloth from a myriad of sources as diverse as silk and burlap. These scra ps alone were not “big enough” to protect and warm her children or gra ndchildren on cold winter nights\, but when combined these diverse scraps could form a beautiful quilt and provide comfort from the cold. Rotary ’s strength lies in its diversity—like scraps of fabric that\, when co mbined\, create a meaningful and powerful quilt. Individually\, each membe r’s passion—whether in health\, education\, youth mentorship\, disaste r relief\, or community service—may seem small\, but together they form a greater impact through “Service Above Self.” This unity across diffe rent backgrounds\, professions\, and beliefs creates a collective force fo r positive change. To symbolize this\, the Rotary e-club of Houston and Di strict 5890 Interactors are collecting Rotary t-shirts to create a commemo rative quilt for District Governor Tom\, with an additional quilt to be au ctioned or raffled in support of Rotary projects. We invite you to contrib ute one or two Rotary t-shirts or consider a financial donation to help br ing this project to life. Our goal is to present a symbolic humanitarian q uilt to DG Tom and to have an extra one to raffle\, with the proceeds goin g to Rotary projects. You can also bri ng them to District Concert in Galveston\, and we will have a table to acc ept them there.
