It's a Wrap!  D 5890 All-Club Meeting

On Thursday, February 19, 2026 our Rotary District's All-Club Meeting was held at Safari Ranch in Richmond, Texas.  Our club was represented by the following members:  President & PDG Nick Giannone, PDG Ed Charlesworth, Robin Charlesworth, Ed Socha,  Robert Stein, and our two newest members Daniel Casper and Sir Billy Dorsey.  Additional guests at our table were Fabiola Giannone and Carol Stein.   Our club's exchange student from Brazil was sponsored by. our club and also sat at our table.  Prior to the meeting we were also represented at the EXPO by Robin Charlesworth's ICC (Intercountry Committee) table and tables promoted by Dr. Nick Giannone for Umbilical Cord Blood Donations.  DG Tom Kelchner also invited Nick to present with a panel of experts a brief introduction to the concept of cord blood donations.  The keynote speaker was representing the Bill Gates Foundation,  Andrew Stein.  He is the Deputy Director of Polio Program's Outbreak Teams with the Gates Foundation.  An iron lung was on display as you entered the building which was relied upon by polio patients to maintain breathing ability.  Rotary maintains our commitment to eradicate polio so future generations will not suffer from this disease.

Club Social - March 16th - We will also be on Zoom at 7:15 pm for a short program & fellowship.

Community Service Update

February / March 2026
The Houston E-Club community service theme for February and March is Volunteerism – Health, Water & Sanitation – Polio. This is an opportunity for our E-club to focus on some KEY Rotary Areas of global service. Please spread the word and participate locally, individually in the name of rotary, and join our club in targeted events to demonstrate ACTIVE Volunteerism making the world and our communities a better place.
As the Rotary E-Club of Houston is a virtual club, this month is a great time to highlight opportunities in the Virtual Volunteer realm. Shown below are organization links specifically designed to provide virtual service participation opportunities:
Additional focus should also be given to the global perspective provided through Rotary International. The RI focus for the months of February and March are:
  • February – Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month
  • March – Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month
Be proactive and represent Rotary wherever you are and please do so often!
