NEXT GENERAL MEETING - JAN 21
Join us for our next monthly meeting on January 21, 2025 at noon via Zoom.  We will hear vocational talks from several members  and "Build Better Friendships" as part of the Rotary Four-Way Test of the "Things we Think, Say, and Do".     Vocational service in Rotary International is a commitment to using skills and expertise to help the community. It's a core part of Rotary's service to communities around the world.  January is "Vocational Service" month in Rotary International.
Goals of vocational service:
  • Promote ethical standards: Encourage high ethical standards in business and professions
  • Recognize all occupations: Recognize the value of all useful occupations, not just those pursued by Rotarians
  • Promote professional development: Guide and train others to find fulfilling employment
  • Contribute to society: Use vocational talents to solve community problems
Activities of vocational service:
  • Enhance knowledge: Rotarians can enhance their own knowledge through activities
  • Guide and train others: Rotarians can guide and train others to find fulfilling employment
  • Present awards: Rotary clubs can present awards to community members who exemplify professional achievement and high ethical standards

SAVE THE DATE:  January 26 Social
On January 26, 2024 we will have a social gathering at Mutiny Wine Room in the Houston Heights area.  Anyone in the Houston area is welcome to attend.  It will be Buy Your Own Drinks and Food.  They have a special Paella meal and I will need to know how many plan to order this special selection.   Please rsvp to Robin Charlesworth, Club Director, at 970-880-0960 (text or call).

Where:  Mutiny Wine Room
Time:  4:00 - 6:00 pm

We built Mutiny Wine Room to bring together a community of "wine-lovers" and "foodies" searching for diversity in Houston. Our mission is to bring the Napa Valley wine tasting experience to our neighborhood while enjoying our seasonal dining menu.  Our global menu mixes California sensibilities with a Texas twist.  Chef Eduardo Alcayaga utilizes exceptional products from local, specialty purveyors, ensuring that each unique culinary creation is as fresh as it is delicious!

Rotary Dues Update
Thank you for your patience as we are learning a new billing program which will simplify our collections for dues and other events.  It gives our members the option of paying monthly or one lump sum.  On January 1 we pay our second payment for dues to Rotary International.  If you have made a decision to leave our club, please notify Charles Mickens, Secretary, to be removed from the active member list.  Otherwise your dues will be billed for our annual $300.  Some have already paid - thank you!  Others may not have received more than one notification, and we are working on that so you will be billed in January.

The Four-Way Test of Rotary
The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:
Of the things we think, say or do

First, Is it the TRUTH?
Second, Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third, Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
and Fourth, Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
